On May 27th I headed over to Maple Creek to assist with a BBQ fundraiser held by the Chamber of Commerce. The fundraiser was held to raise funds for Maple Creek’s Childcare Cooperative. Here is what my time helping out looked like!

The barbeque couldn’t have been held on a better day, the sun was shining and the temperature was perfect for tank tops and shorts. I was given the very important task of handing out chips. While it wasn’t the most intense job, it gave me plenty of time to talk to many community members. Whether I was talking to folks that were volunteering with the Chamber of Commerce or families coming out for a hamburger I got a strong sense of community there. Many people in Maple Creek are friendly conversationalists that care about uplifting their town. We even managed to sell out of hamburgers half an hour earlier than expected. The lunch rush was ready for some good food for a good cause!

Between burger sales and generous donations the Chamber of Commerce was able to present the Childcare Cooperative with a cheque of $2434.40! It was an incredibly successful event. Thank you to everyone who showed up, volunteered, and made donations!
